Essay, [c. 1657].

Blinman defended infant baptism, but opposed the introduction of the half-way covenant, as proposed by the minsterial convention meeting in Boston in 1657. Supporting the position of John Davenport and opposing that of Richard Mather, who drew up the conclusions of the minister's convention, Blinman wrote his essay, "An answeare to divers Rd Elders of New England, respecting their Resolution of Quest. 10th, in their book entitled, A Disputation Concerning Church members, and their children, in answer to 21 Questions." This essay, unpublished, was evidently a part of the controversy of the extension of baptism to children of the unregenerate (but themselves baptized). Blinman was forced eventually to resign his New London ministry.
